Emma Castro Møller is a queer, non-binary person of colour who has worked in different environments and roles within contemporary performance since 2010, including as curator, producer, facilitator and dramaturg in Copenhagen (Denmark), London (UK), Ljubljana (Slovenia), New York (USA), and Hong Kong.

 

For the past 10 years, their work primarily has been concentrated on queer feminist curation, social practice, labour conditions and community building. 

 

Since 2013, they have worked as a curator and programme producer at Warehouse9, the longest running queer performance space in Denmark, committed to the creation, support and development of work by artists and activists from queer communities. They have been instrumental in shaping Warehouse9’s curatorial profile and developing new artist-centred development initiatives, as well as international projects and collaborations. Emma notably has helped to secure economic stability and better working conditions within the organisation.

 

Emma has many years experience working within the independent arts sector as a freelance producer in the UK and Denmark. Their previous work has included working with performance artists Poppy Jackson (UK) and performance photographer Manuel Vason (UK/IT), as well as for the live art festival SPILL (UK) and the festival of new work Selected Works Festival (DK). They also worked a season in New York on the Sunday Sessions series at MoMA PS1 (US). 

 

Emma currently works at Warehouse9 in Copenhagen (DK) as curator and programme producer. Current projects include developing new and sustainable international exchange and development opportunities for queer artists, expanding Warehouse9’s co-production work and continuing the development of the international performance festival IPAF. 

 

They are an experienced mentor and are currently working with Hangö Teaterträff (FI) on their 2022-23 artistic development programme. 

 

Emma holds a Masters Degree in Theatre and Performance from Queen Mary, University of London and a Bachelors Degree in Drama, Applied Theatre and Education from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, London.
